       After being in New York and seeing deliveries being made to homes, here are two sources, you may want to check out as a gift idea to Steve and Kate upon the arrival of their new daughter:
Fresh Direct and Pea Pod.  They service the New York area and I saw them make deliveries in Riverdale.  It might be convenient for Kate (or Steve) to order online and have the groceries delivered to their door.
        Only a little over one week to go!  Am I excited or what?!

After consultation with Kate and Steve, here are some gift ideas:

*Amazon gift certificates for diapers and wipes

  (Kate and Steve order all their diapers and wipes from Amazon so they can be delivered right to their condo.)

*California Baby brand (no fragrance) sunscreen & lotion

*Burt's Baby Bees brand Shampoo & Body Wash

*Burt's Baby Bees brand Apricot oil (to avoid cradle cap)

*A few larger-size absorbent burp cloths

*Outback Steakhouse gift certificates for their take-away window or gift certificates to other restaurants. 

*A "share" (donation of money) toward the purchase of a double stroller, a car seat, a toddler bed, or grandparent housing in July

*Money toward babysitters (for the time after the grandparents return home to IN and FL)

*A pass to the Bronx zoo, for Steve to take Susannah some Sat afternoon

*Massage coupons for Kate

*Certificates for pedicures and manicures for Kate

*Poem or song you create for Steve and Kate OR for the new baby

*Gift certificate to Fresh Direct, the online grocery from which Steve and Kate will be ordering their groceries

*Children's books

And, something NOT to buy, no matter how tempted you are, is a cute outfit for new Baby Rogers.  Kate says they have oodles of clothes and have no place to store them all.  Nine hundred square feet is not conducive to "extras."  Keep this in mind, too, in regard to toys.  Things need to be small.

Of course, we all wish we could give them the gift of sleep!

SHOWER FOR KATE!

Friends, let's celebrate the upcoming birth of a little sister for Susannah.  She will be born in early July.  Since we are all scattered, a virtual shower seemed most logical.  For Rogers Baby Number 2 (Steve and Kate are keeping the name selection a secret) very practical items are probably needed such as diapers and wipes, coupons for restaurants offering take-outs, etc.  I have made a list of suggestions but knowing how creative you all are, I invite you to add to those.  Look for the list in the next posting.  Thanks to all who will participate!--The Excited Nana (Lois)
